All's well that ends well. Spurs secured a comfortable win to guarantee fifth place and Group stage football in next season's Europa League. Elsewhere, Manchester City beat West Ham and won their fourth consecutive Premier League title, a feat never before achieved in English top flight football.

I have to report that Spurs fans were keeping a close eye on proceedings, taking every opportunity to bait Arsenal, who finished runners-up and who (like us!) are without a trophy this season.

The announcer at Bramall Lane spoke of the end of a fantastic season in the Premier League. I wondered what planet he was on, as Spurs' three goals maintained "The Blades" average of conceding three goals in every home league game. They have also conceded a record 104 Premier League goals and finished with a goal difference of -69, matched only by Derby in 2007-08.........

It was indeed a surreal occasion. Very few Tottenham fans wanted to see City's progress against their arch-rivals impeded. I am sure many regulars stayed away. The pub I visited was very quiet, and I swear many ticket exchanges had taken place, judging by the unfamiliarity displayed by some of the fans attending. A good crowd figure was recorded, but many seats seemed to be empty just before kick-off.

The anti-Arsenal chants emanated from the South Stand soon after kick-off, which Spurs took, playing towards the North Stand........

As if tomorrow's momentous match against Manchester City is not enough to worry about, I now hit you with the dreaded tie-breaker selection test to find the 2024 Spurs Odyssey Quiz League champion.

I reckon there are about 60 of you jockeying for first place in the race. Circumstances dictate that I have to be lenient with the numbers that take part in this final decider, because computer problems in mid-season meant I was unable to receive or respond to everybody's entries.

I have decided in fairness to make it that anybody who has gathered more than 80 points over the season is in the running for the title. You all start this decider on level points.........

Micky van de Ven was announced pre-match as the winner of all three Spurs player of the season awards (Senior & Junior members' vote plus young player award) and for the third time this season, Micky scored our winning goal. He had grabbed our winners against Luton and Nottingham Forest.

Burnley gave their all, and took a 25th minute lead, which made us work hard for the win which mathematically keeps us in the race for a Champions League place, but realistically keeps us on target for the Europa League. Once again, we failed to show the necessary urgency to win the game until the latter stages.......

The omens going into this game were fairly ominous. Spurs had won only twice in the last 36 league visits to Anfield, most recently in 2011. Spurs had lost three league games in a row. A fourth defeat would be the worst run since the team lost six consecutive league matches between October and November 2004, almost twenty years ago, during the managerial transition from Jacques Santini to Martin Jol. Lastly in his ninth Premier League season Jurgen Klopp has never lost a game during the month of May.

Thus it came to pass that Liverpool beat Spurs. There were some parallels with the North London derby a week ago. The opposition was allowed to build up an insurmountable lead. Facing a heavy defeat the team once again found some inspiration later in the game. However once again while it seemed good at the time it was too little too late........

I was very saddened to read today (May 1st, 2024) of the passing of Spurs Double Legend Terry Medwin at the age of 91. Terry and his wife had only recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Terry Medwin was an integral part of the historic Double-winning squad and his name will live on for all time.

The most epic thread on The Spurs Odyssey message board was one which started in 2010. This provided the history of our new stadium applications (including the thankfully unsuccessful bid for the Olympic Stadium) right up to the present day with images of the completed new stadium. In the early hours of Saturday 20th October, 2018, our stadium thread reached 1,000 pages! There is a genuine community feel about the board, which is moderated.

Every Spurs match is covered with excellent threads, which feature images and stats from previous games. There is so much to enjoy about the message board which also has an off-topic section where non-football matters are discussed.

There is also a great archive of filed material with links to some great Spurs history and goals.
